Football Christmas Gift Guide: The good, the generous and the downright odd

So here it is, Merry Christmas! The time of year we exchange an unnecessary amount of socks and consume a ridiculous amount of food, all in the name of baby Jesus.

Christmas is a wonderful time of year regardless of your religious beliefs, but if football is your religion, Just Football is here to fill your festivities with some football-themed fun.

Here are a selection of football related gifts which may want to make an appearance under your tree, or that of a fellow football fan this holiday season…

Football Christmas Gift Guide

If football is your religion, then your team’s stadium is your church. What better time to Build Your Own 3D Football Stadium than at Christmas, perfectly replicating the place you wish you were, rather than surrounded by the slightly annoying extended family you only see once a year.

Ever thought about using a football with the name of a particularly irritating family member printed onto it? Imagine the feeling of being able to ferociously kick *insert name here* into oblivion… well now you can! Buy yourself this personalised football and allow all your dreams to come true.

For those of you who aren’t quite as aggressive, this football could be enjoyed as a charming gift that has been affectionately embellished with the name of a loved one. Your choice.

If you’re a firm believer that Christmas is about giving, this could be the gift for you. This football keeps on giving; for every ball you buy, the project donates a second ball to organisations working with youth in disadvantaged communities. The ball has also been developed so that it can be used anywhere in the world, lasting for years.

Got hands? Ever been cold? Like football? If you’ve answered yes to one of more of those questions, these Football Hand Warmers are what you need to warm up your frozen mitts this festive season.

What about the fan who has everything? With this Football Shower Gel & Soap Gift Set you can take your relationship with football to the next level and lather it over your football-loving body. After that squeaky bum time, you’re sure to be feeling more beautiful yourself.

Club specific gifts

Speaking of addictive games, Mention Football Manager to most lovers of the game and they’ll tell you how much of their life they’ve spent making Accrington Stanley a team you’ve actually heard of. Buy this latest edition at your own risk…

Books

Sports player autobiographies are booming, and this year was no different for football with a number of leading personalities releasing their memoirs.

Sure to be one of the more fascinating reads is Didier Drogba‘s journey from a boy in his native Ivory Coast with a football at his dusty feet and a hatful of dreams to a multiple title-winning Chelsea and African football legend.

He’s already got a movie, but for those who prefer to learn about one of the world’s greatest ever players in written form Guillem Balague casts an illuminating eye at Cristiano Ronaldo in this insightful and revelatory biography.

For Manchester United fans who wish to reminisce about a time when their team were winning trophy after trophy, a book on the man who did it all. Sir Alex Ferguson returns with a book on the concept of leadership.

Finally, sure to be one of the best books of the year by the brilliant, award-winning journalist Michael Calvin: Living on the Volcano – The Secrets of Surviving as a Football Manager.

Calvin makes a stark, compelling and at times brutal attempt to humanise the managers we often barrack with cartoonish chants of “You’re getting sacked in the morning”, lifting the lid on the real pressures we often know nothing of, from managers trying to make a living to feed their families to feelings of depression and isolation. A cracking read.

What’s on your Christmas list? If you know any books we should be reading this Christmas let us know below or on Twitter @JustFootball or Facebook.
